1. Have a recruiting strategy.

You need to work with the managers to discuss what their needs are and to determine the positions most crucial to the company. You should also work with the managers to get their input on what skills and experience they are looking for. Having a close working relationship with managers is a necessity to recruit efficiently.
This means also that you need to be candid with managers about where their needs rank on the list of jobs that need to be filled.
2. Don’t get lost in jargon.
Make sure the job description you are posting is clear and accurately portrays the duties of the job. Try not to get lost in too much abstraction or jargon, which may actually confuse people more than help them understand the requirements.
This doesn’t mean you should avoid jargon entirely, but only use it when it is necessary.
3. Be prepared for unforeseen circumstances.
You might have spent a good deal of time lining up an interview with a promising candidate, but then a hiring manager gets called away at the last minute. If you don’t have a backup plan in place, a situation like this could really cause problems, and might even cost you a candidate. You should have substitutes ready and waiting to fill in should such a circumstance arise. That way, you can go ahead with the interview as scheduled.
4. Show candidates around.
When candidates come for an interview, be sure to give them a tour of the company. This is helpful for all concerned. People at the company get to meet the candidate and assess him or her as a possible coworker, and the candidate can do the same.
