You need to be honest with yourself and others. Without honesty, you won’t be able to develop the self-confidence and abilities you need to improve your performance.

3. Forego perfectionism

The only place perfect exists is in our minds, not in the world. If you are a perfectionist, you need to change your attitude. You, like everyone else, have flaws and make mistakes. Embrace them, learn from them.

4. Deal with failure

Failure is just a part of life. In fact, leadership experts see it as integral to eventual success, not as the opposite of success, but something that is necessary to move forward. The key is to continually make progress, to take both success and failure in stride and not let either influence your continual striving for improvement.

5. Accept mistakes

You are going to make them. It is as simple as that. Don’t let them get you down. The key is to correct them as soon as you can if possible, and especially to learn from them.

6. Think positive

Our thoughts influence our actions in one way or another. So, to change your situation, you need to change how you think.

7. Push yourself

The phrase has by now become commonplace – get out of your comfort zone. You need to try new things, do things that may frighten you or make you uncomfortable.

8. Prioritize

Determine what is truly important to you and focus on that. Eliminate all the distractions and other nonessentials. Remember the quote from Henry David Thoreau: “People are being controlled by the things they work with. Our life is frittered away by detail. Simplify, simplify.”
