We all want to be as productive as possible. To do this, we generally focus on our time at work and how we can better manage our time, get more organized, prioritize tasks and plan assignments to get as much done as possible.

All this is well and good, but to be as productive as possible, don’t overlook your night time routine. A good routine here will not only help you be more productive but will also help you to get off to a good start for the next work day. Here are a few activities that should be a part of your end of the day routine.

1. Write down an agenda

The first thing you need to do as part of your end of the day routine is write down the three most important tasks that you need to get done the next day. This will help you to focus and to get off to a fast start in the morning. You will know what you need to get done and can concentrate on how to approach it.

2. Keep a journal

It will also help to keep a journal of what happened during the day. You can use the journal to record the events that occurred, the tasks that you completed, the people you dealt with. Reviewing the events of the day like this will help you to put them into perspective, to see how much you accomplished, to reflect on how successful your efforts were, to think about what could have been done differently, where things could have been improved, what to do next, or just to jot down new ideas that you have.

3. Plan your attire

Get your clothes ready for the next day. This will save you time and energy in the morning. It will be one less decision you will have to make the next day.

Clear out your briefcase or knapsack.

Take a few minutes to look through your briefcase for any extraneous items that you accumulated during the day. Get things organized.

4. Relax

You should begin to wind down about 30 minutes before turning in for the night. Do something relaxing and enjoyable like reading or listening to music.
